A bone graft has been placed in the socket where your tooth was removed. Special care must be taken until the graft has covered over with gum tissue; about 4-6 weeks. Until then, a few granules may leak out as the socket is usually overfilled to compensate for this.

  1. Refrain from vigorous mouth rinsing or spitting. Gentle rinsing is okay after 24 hours. DO NOT USE PEROXIDE.
  2. No drinking through a straw or sucking on anything.
  3. No chewing on the graft site.

Strict adherence to these instructions will help ensure the success of your bone graft.
